Yesterday Reniel and I saw Lost in Translation and it more than lived up to my expectations. We also went to this big flea market up in Pontiac and ran into some other Cranbroids (Cranberries?). Didn't buy anything.

Today I went to the mall with Reniel and Bryan. While they were seriously clothes shopping I went to the Apple store and also a record store where I bought the new Elvis Costello. I also bought a new pair of shoes so that I have two (pairs) to wear.

Then I went to the DIA with Roland to see Masked and Anonymous. It was pretty good - but everybody's lines in which they were ruminating and making metaphorical statements (constituting most of the dialogue) seemed a little off, or unbelievable, except coming from Bob Dylan. They should have all been his lines, I think. Also weird was recognizing almost every actor in the film, even bit players.

Went home on Saturday and got an oil change for the car. It made it home ok (it's been having radiator problems all year) so I hope I can keep using it at school and not have to buy another car. Cleaned my room which was filled with stuff leftover from living in Toledo and St. Paul.

Sunday I got to see my cousin Aubrey whom I usually only see once or twice a year. She's on my dad's side of the family, so she's from Paducah. She's just starting grad school at Ohio State this week. Mom and Dad took us all out for lunch at a place in our neighborhood we used to go to a lot.

This morning I drove back up here and it rained the whole way up. Then I had trash duty, so we had to dump wet trash in dumpsters while getting soaked.

My great aunt Josephine died this morning. She'd had Alzheimer's for the last several years and was in a care facility. The last time I saw her was last year. My great uncle JV coped with the situation well, I think. My mom says he's a positive person.

Weird to think I've been here a week. It seems like a lot has happened, or that my mind is already changing and I'm becoming someone else.

Today I worked at the Detroit children's art fair at the Cranbrook booth. We made simple screen prints from an image of one of the sculptures on campus. The kids seemed to like them well enough.

I signed up for Emusic again and am happily downloading the albums they added over the summer.

Ah ha! Just figured out how to get my computer hooked up to the Internet here at Cranbrook. Mom and Dad helped me move up here (with an unfortunately cumbersome stop in Toledo to pick up old stuff) on Saturday. Sunday was pretty dead around here; today was orientation. I require three keys to get into my studio in the printmaking building and a fob (!?) to get elsewhere. That's the least interesting part, I guess, but I don't feel like writing just this minute. My roommate is cool.
