Just about done here. Tomorrow's my last day. Thursday I'm going to Iowa (to Shannon's) and my parents are coming up for the weekend to help me bring my stuff back to Columbus. Then in September I'll go up to Cranbrook.

About a week and half left of work and then I go back to Columbus. Nothing much else going on. Shannon starts teaching tomorrow.

Shannon has gone to Iowa and I'm only here for a few more weeks. It's sort of boring here already, with only the prospect of work and whatever little diversions I can find. I should draw more, get back into the habit of making art.

Yesterday was the opening of the new store for which I was hired. I worked in the afternoon till we closed. People were pretty nice, many of them very excited to be able to get coffee in that neighborhood. And the store looks very nice, too - everything is brand new.

(Incidentally, I learned from Bill Bryson's Dictionary of Troublesome Words [I think it's so called] that "brand new" has nothing to do with brands as in "brand name" but comes from things being branded, made in a fire. [I am becoming a smarty pants regarding language and it's annoying me.])

Shannon leaves a week from tomorrow for Iowa.
