Spring breeeaaaak!!! Yeah!

I went to Iowa for spring break last week. It was good. Sometimes it feels like going to another planet, but it's comforting and comfortable. I forgot to take pictures again while I was there. We didn't do anything unusual: hung out, watched tv, went out with shannon's friends, went to church. We saw Robots in an Imax theater, which wasn't as dumb as I expected (although my expectations were quite low) and the visual effects made up for it anyway.

Shannon's dad helped me make my chair for the chair show. I'm really happy with it. It's based on my bug drawing (which is peaking through "dicebourbon.com" at the top of the screen). We made it out of pine in his woodshop. After I paint it I'll put up some pictures of it. Now I want to make a bunch of different chairs.

On my way back to school yesterday I stopped in Chicago to hang out with Mike, who graduated from sculpture last year. He showed me his studio, a gallery across the street from his studio, a bookstore called Quimby's whose sign was made by Chris Ware (although the store and the mouse apparently came about independently), a yummy falafel place, and Reckless Records. It was very whirlwindish.

Mandrews in his studio.

Quimby's.
